Guidant Pleads Guilty in 2005 ICD Recall Case
Under plea terms, device maker would have to pay more than $296 million as penalty
Guidant's Contak Renewal TR Former medical device giant Guidant, which was acquired by Boston Scientific in 2006, has pleaded guilty to charges that it “withheld information from the FDA regarding catastrophic failures” involving three models of its implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), according to a statement from FDA and the US Department of Justice (DoJ).
