Company Profile
Life Science Austria, LISA, is a program acting as a hub for people from all over the world who are interested in the life science sector in Austria. Together with its associates in the Austrian regions, ecoplus/Technopolis Lower Austria, Human Technology Styria, LISA Vienna Region, the Tyrolean Future Foundation and the Upper Austrian Health Cluster, LISA is the first point of contact for anyone with questions about scientific collaboration, setting up an operation, or funding and sponsoring projects and businesses in Austria.
The initiative was set up with one foremost objective in mind – to increase the number of life science companies in Austria, either by setting up new companies or settling of established ones from abroad. Thus, LISA offers assistance, training and advice to those planning on establishing their company in Austria.
Pursuing its goal, LISA organises for example the business plan contest BOB (Best of biotech) and offers funding to promising new ventures. Furthermore, the program advises companies, among others, on business plans, financing, funding opportunities, patents and company structures. Public funding for new companies during their start-up and growth phase are important financing mechanisms for young life science companies in Austria.
Another important objective is to market Austria as an attractive life science location for investors and collaboration partners from abroad. By establishing Austria as a brand, LISA was able to reinforce the international marketing efforts of the regional clusters.
Austria Wirtschaftsservice GmbH (aws) is responsible for running the LISA program on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth of the Republic of Austria. aws (Austria Wirtschaftsservice GmbH) is Austria’s national funding bank.
