Positioning Statement Accumold specializes in producing small parts that are measured in microns and are no bigger than 0.5 cubic inches. Or, they can be very small features on a normal sized part up to about 3 inches in diameter (what we refer to as a micro-feature). These features include extremely thin walls, micro-fluid channels or holes. Both micro-parts and micro-features require very small tolerances, ranging from .001 inch or tighter. They also typically have complex geometries. Being able to manufacture these parts consistently and repeatably in both prototype volumes and high production volumes (millions + parts per year) at affordable prices is Accumold s strength.
Accumold s strongest capabilities fall into three categories: Micro-Mold® Parts, Small Parts and Lead Frame Parts/Inserted Molded Parts.
Expertise • Micro-Mold® Parts
Micro-Molding is the essence of what we do at Accumold. It is where we began as a company and it remains at the heart of our operation today.
Our Micro-Molded parts range from about 1/2 inch in size to parts measured in microns. These components often have complex geometry and very tight tolerances. • Small Molded Parts
Small or Miniature Parts maintain the same precision and quality as our Micro-Molded parts do, they are simply a bit larger, ranging in size from about 1/2 inch to about 3 inches in diameter using about a one ounce shot of material. Many have micron tolerances. These parts can have micro-sized features also measured in microns. Using Accumold's in-house modifications to our presses ranging from 12 ton to 35 ton, these parts are made with minimal waste and fast cycle times. • Lead Frame / Insert Molded Parts
Accumold can mold plastic on and around all different types of metals, plastics, fabrics, foils, devices, etc.. Some of these processes produce complete parts, while others are ready for further processing by our customers or their agents. In many cases high-speed handling can be added to these processes to save resources. • 2-Shot Micro Molding
The figure shows an example of 2-shot micro-molding. This is a process by which two different plastic materials are shot in sync so that it requires only one single operation. Customers often look to this type of process in micro-molding to remove intense labor, create a more robust part configuration or as a cost-savings measure. Other applications such as cosmetics or touch-and-feel applications are also capable at these part sizes. •
Services • Design for Manufacturability
Accumold is a micro-molder that produces ultra-small, tight-toleranced, geometrically complex parts consistently and efficiently every time. But, we never lose sight of the fact that these parts must bring value to your finished piece. In order to accomplish this, our engineering team works closely with your design engineers at the start of every project. Discussions about multiple aspects of design, function, features, materials, tooling, production and output take place. Taking this time up front has proven to be a great way to save time and resources through the entire life of your project.
Remember, being able to manufacture these parts consistently and repeatably in both prototype volumes and high production volumes (millions+ parts per year) at affordable prices is Accumold’s strength. Geographical Coverage
